Comments:
I have discovered that I like to use:
-personal narrative about stuff that happened to me
-no overarching metaphors
-first, second, and third person, but mostly first
-the "&" sign
-open verse
-really long sentence-stanzas
-cool-sounding bits of the poem itself in the title of the poem
...and that for some reason, starting to write about how much and why I hate my ex-boyfriend basically guarantees a poem, and quite often a really, really long poem. Even if the poem ends up not having anything to do with him. Lol. Guess he was good for somethin', then.
I also did find that it could get really intense to dip into some of the things that I did. If I hadn't been on a deadline/time crunch, I would have been unwilling to post some of the poems that I ultimately did, not because of poor quality but because they were so personal. Actually (or maybe I should say "of course") some of the poems I would not have posted otherwise are actually some of my best.
I also got into the habit this last month of starting to take notice of what could go into poetry- stories, odd phrases, feelings, etc. I haven't done that in a long time, maybe even a year or more.
I also wish to god PoWriMo hadn't happened at the busiest time of the school year (lol) but it may have also come at a time when I really needed to write about some of the stuff that I did. Therapy a la Microsoft word. (Actually, I think that's taken almost verbatim from one of the poems I started and then rejected- and yes, I did do a LITTLE filtering if I knew what I was writing just didn't work).
I also realized I'd kind of missed DevArt and I should browse and post on here more often. AWWWWWSSSS warmfuzzyhuggles. (I make no promises, though. Like, seriously, I wrote at least two poems this month saying I don't make promises.)
&I think that's it for now.

You should try some Chetes. It'll kill that urge to listen to My Chemical Romance real quicklike.
